US steelmaker Nucor will add a paint line to its hot-rolled coil (HRC) mill near Blytheville, Arkansas, to help the company be more competitive in the roofing, siding and appliance markets.
The paint line will have the capacity to coat 250,000 short ton (st)/yr of HRC having a thickness range of 0.010-0.065 inches and widths of 35-72 inches. It is expected to come online in the first half of 2022.
Nucor's Arkansas mill produces 2.6mn st/yr of HRC for the automotive, appliance, construction, and pipe and tube industries.
The Arkansas mill recently completed a new specialty cold mill with a capacity of 650,000 st/y. Nucor is building a 500,000 st/yr galvanizing line at the site slated to start up in 2021.
