Electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaker Nucor has kept its plate prices flat.

The company is offering its steel plate at $1,860/short ton (st) and has opened up its order books for August, according to a notice from 30 June.

The Argus US plate ex-works assessment slipped by $8/st this week to $1,852/st, as prices were said to diverge between Nucor and fellow platemaker SSAB and other plate producers in the US.

In May, Nucor lowered its plate prices by $50/st for the first time in at least two years.
