Brazilian energy company Eneva has finalized the purchase of power generation company Celse for R6.7bn ($1.3bn).
Celse's 1.6GW thermal plant is one of the largest gas plants in Latin America and is contracted for its full capacity to supply Brazil's regulated power market until 2044. The companies had agreed to the deal in June but only finalized it this week.
Eneva also acquires the rights for the plant's expansion, with an additional 3.2GW in the project pipeline.
