North American automotive losses from parts shortages have lessened somewhat.

The amount of lost vehicle production fell by 36,000 vehicles in the last week to 751,000, according to estimates from AutoForecast Solutions.

The decline in lost vehicles is a rare reversal to the trend throughout 2022 of rising vehicle losses brought on by a lack of semiconductor chips and other parts shortages.

The production of another 500,000 vehicles are listed as at-risk, which could raise the overall lost production for the year to over 1.2mn vehicles. That would be much less than the 2.29mn vehicles lost in 2021.
