Global steelmaker ArcelorMittal has increased flat rolled steel prices at its Canadian and US mills.

The company raised minimum prices at its Dofasco, Ontario, integrated mill on 3 March to C$1,560/short ton (st) ($1,145/st) for hot rolled coil (HRC), an increase of C$220/st from its previous increase on 21 February. Similar price increases raised cold rolled coil (CRC) and hot dipped galvanized (HDG) coil prices to C$1,820/st. Galvanneal pricing increased to $1,830/st while galvalume pricing was raised to $1,860/st.

At ArcelorMittal's joint venture mill in Calvert, Alabama, HRC minimum pricing was increased by $150/st to $1,150/st. The April order books for HRC, CRC and HDG have been filled and the mill is accepting CRC and HDG orders for May and will open the May HRC order books on 8 March.

The moves follow electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaker Nucor's own $150/st flat steel price increase on 3 March, which brought its HRC price minimum to $1,150/st as well.

EAF steelmaker and reroller NLMK USA upped its HRC price minimum to $1,200/st last week, with CRC and HDG in a range of $1,300-1,400/st.

Integrated steelmaker Cleveland-Cliffs increased its prices by $100/st on 27 February to $1,100/st for HRC.
