Forza Steel to build tube mill in south Texas

Mexican tubular maker Forza Steel will build a new plant at the port of Brownsville, Texas.

Forza Steel plans to install equipment in July to begin rolling mill operations, according to the Port of Brownsville. The company expects to import in 260,000 metric tonnes (t)/yr to the facility to produce 240,000t/yr of tubular products,

The facility will manufacture steel pipes and tubes for the automotive, construction, and oil and gas industries at the 650,000ft² plant.

Forza Steel operates a plant north of Monterrey, Mexico, and chose the Brownsville location 165 miles to the east to be closer to its customer base.
