Harvesting of Brazil's 2023-24 soybean crop started last week in Mato Grosso state, while summer corn planting trailed last season's pace, according to national supply company Conab.
- Soybeans: Harvesting activities in Mato Grosso, the largest producing state, reached 0.2pc progress as of 30 December. Progress has not yet exceeded 0pc nationally. Planting of the 2023-24 crop is still happening and was 97.9pc compete last week, 0.5 percentage point behind last season's pace. Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Sao Paulo and Parana states are finished sowing.
- Summer corn: Planting progress nationwide reached 80.4pc of the expected area as of 30 December, compared with 87.3pc a year prior for the 2022-23 crop. Sao Paulo, Parana and Santa Catarina states have finished sowing. Harvesting has begun in Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul states, with national progress totaling 0.9pc, slightly ahead of the pace of the previous harvest.
- Cotton: Planting reached 26.1pc on 30 December, 3.1 percentage points ahead of the previous crop's pace.
