Canadian firm Ivanhoe Mines has released higher production guidance at its Kamoa-Kakula copper complex and Kipushi zinc project in the Democratic Republic of Congo for this year following record output in 2024.
The company has set its 2025 copper production guidance for Kamoa-Kakula at 520,000-580,000t, targeting 600,000t for 2026.
Kamoa-Kakula produced a record 437,061t of copper in concentrate in 2024, up by 11pc on the year, including a record output of 47,058t in December. Last year's total copper output consisted of 382,078t from the phase 1 and 2 concentrators and 54,983t from the phase 3 concentrator that processed its first ore in the second quarter.
A fire occurred at an on-site generator bank near Kamoa-Kakula on 2 January, potentially delaying smelter commissioning by up to three months for repairs.
The company has set its 2025 zinc production guidance for Kipushi at 180,000-240,000t, and is targeting 250,000t of zinc for 2026.
