Flint Hills Resources' east refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas experienced a diesel leak yesterday, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
"[A]t approximately 12:45 a.m., operations personnel discovered that gaskets were compromised and spilling diesel to soil," according to the filing. "The line was isolated to stop the leak."
Fence line monitoring did not detect readings for VOCs, hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, and other contaminants, but as a precaution Flint Hills reported possible emissions of benzene and VOCs, the company stated.
