Shintech reported emissions of vinyl chloride monomer at its Freeport, Texas polyvinyl chloride plant caused by an error in the PVC resin batch process, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Following the 3 January release, the reactor was depressurized. In addition, a block valve was closed so no additional material could escape.
