ExxonMobil reports Beaumont ethylene plant upset
ExxonMobil Chemical reported a compressor trip at its 1.8bn lb/yr (816,000 t/yr) Beaumont, Texas, ethylene plant on Monday, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Process streams were routed to the flare to minimize emissions, and plant personnel worked to restore normal operations, the filing states. The company anticipates some impact to production but said all contractual commitments will likely be met.
During the incident, the plant flared a mixture of olefins, aromatics and NGLs, according to the filing.
