Vallourec Star mill suffers outage

The Vallourec Star tubular mill in Youngstown, Ohio, suffered an outage after an incident near its electric arc furnace (EAF).

France-based Vallourec said the mill had an unspecified incident near the EAF during a steel casting operation. Vallourec reported that no equipment was damaged.

The facility was evacuated as a precaution and is expected to resume normal production in the coming days, Vallourec told Argus.

The plant can produce an estimated 680,000 st/yr of oil country tubular goods (OCTG), consuming an estimated 40,000 gt/month of ferrous scrap.
