Dallas-based metals recycler Venture Metals bought Versatile Processing Group (VPG), combining two leading US nonferrous scrap processors.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The companies are of comparable size with annual revenues of more than $700mn each.

Venture will add VPG's three processing locations in Wills Point, Texas, east of Dallas, Des Plaines, Illinois, and Nabb, Indiana, to its existing processing facilities in Dallas and Houston. VPG has wire-chopping operations in Wills Point and Nabb, and de-tinning capabilities in Des Plaines.

Indianapolis-based VPG specializes in nonferrous scrap processing, including copper, brass, aluminum, zinc, tin and nickel.

Venture processes nonferrous and ferrous scrap from industrial sources and also offers global trading and brokerage services.

Mill Rock Capital Management made a strategic investment in Venture Metals to help with the acquisition.
