YNCC advances SM unit restart
South Korean petrochemical producer YNCC has achieved an earlier than expected restart at its 285,000 t/yr Yosu-based styrene monomer (SM) unit.
The unit was shut more than a week ago after off-specification SM was produced. YNCC had initially expected a 10 August restart but was able to bring the unit back on line earlier.
Attempts to restart the unit started earlier today and on-specification SM was produced. YNCC expects normal operations to resume at the unit from this weekend.
