Shell Deer Park to idle SRU in 2021
Shell will idle a sulphur recover unit (SRU) at its 340,000 b/d refinery in Deer Park, Texas, next year citing an "ever-tightening market", created by the economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The refinery's remaining SRU's will continue operating and are "well suited to the needs of the site" the company said late last week.
SRUs help to remove sulphur and other impurities from refinery products and gas streams.
