France-based polymers trader Emeraude has made a long-term investment in UAE-based recycled fabric manufacturer DGrade.

The investment will facilitate Emeraude's entry into the recycled polymers markets, while helping DGrade to expand on its global marketing and sales efforts. Further details on the investment and enhanced partnership were not known.

DGrade collects post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles and uses these for producing recycled PET (rPET) at its plant in Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD). The rPET produced at the site is then utilised for manufacturing recycled fibres and goods, such as clothes and face masks.

DGrade also plans to begin supplying rPET flakes and rPET pellets to customers in the fourth quarter of this year.

Emeraude started as a virgin polymers distributor in African markets and has broadened its global portfolio in recent years. Prior to making inroads into the recycled polymers segment, it expanded into polyvinyl chloride (PVC) after acquiring US-based PVC-compounder Resin Technology in 2017.
