Enterprise Products Partners notified customers it is reinstating the minimum propane inventory requirements on the Teppco pipeline effective 10 February.
The pipeline, which carries Gulf coast propane to truck and rail terminals in Pennsylvania and New York, recently saw "increased system demand and decreased system receipts," according to the notice. Market participants suggested Enterprise is seeking to prevent shortages in the region later in the month following a surge in heating demand last week.
However, Enterprise reiterated that customers on the line, which in recent years saw a glut of material, may not exceed minimum allowed inventories. The measure comes as two propane cargoes from Europe are scheduled to arrive in the region in early February under term contracts.
