Japanese upstream firm Inpex has divested its entire 10.1pc stake in the Lucius deepwater oil and natural gas project in the US Gulf of Mexico, targeting to focus its resources on other regions.
Inpex has transferred the stake to US firms Anadarko US Offshore and Murphy Exploration and Production and Eni Petroleum, without disclosing further details.
The Lucius project can produce 80,000 b/d crude oil and 450mn ft³/d (4.65bn m³/yr) of natural gas.
Inpex expanded its share in the project in February 2021. It has decided to withdraw from the project to concentrate on resource development in Japan, Australia, the UAE and Europe.
