Finnish energy company ST1 has delivered 20t of bio-LNG to Swedish shipowner Terntank at the Port of Gothenburg.
ST1 and its biogas arm St1 Biokraft physically delivered the bio-LNG to Terntank's Tern Ocean this week. It is the first such delivery at the port.
Argus most recently assessed northwest European, subsidised bunker bio-LNG at €67.43/MWh, and its unsubsidised counterpart at €90.18/MWh.
The transaction was in collaboration with Swedish energy supplier Nordion Energi and Norwegian carrier Litra. Nordion is constructing a 250 GWh/yr biogas liquefaction plant at the Port of Gothenburg. It aims to complete this by autumn 2026 and connect it to the West Swedish gas network. St1 Biokraft has secured some of the plant's capacity.
ST1 this month connected two new bio-LNG refuelling points in Finland: one near the company's Shell station in Hirvaskangas and the other at the St1 Truck station in Voutila, Vantaa. St1 opened its first bio-LNG refuelling points last year at the Shell Hämeenlinna Iittala, St1 Mäntsälä P and Shell Salo Halikko stations, all in Finland. It aims to open five more bio-LNG stations in 2025 across the Nordic countries, and eventually 50 bio-LNG stations by the end of 2028. It currently operates more than 50 bio-CNG stations across the Nordic countries.
