India's state-controlled Gujarat State Petroleum (GSPC) has signed a 10-year LNG supply agreement for 500,000 t/yr with German energy firm Uniper, the latter said in a statement today.

Supplies under the deal are set to start from January 2028 under Uniper's global trading portfolio which will help in bringing LNG on a delivered basis to India's western terminals at either the 17.5mn t/yr Dahej or 5mn t/yr Mundra LNG facilities.

The pricing of the deal is linked to dated Brent with a slope below 12pc, sources told Argus.

"The LNG supply agreement with GSPC leverages Uniper's global energy trading capabilities and expertise in LNG markets to the benefit of both parties," the statement said.

The agreement between the two companies follows a recent summit between Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and German chancellor Friedrich Merz in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, to boost the bilateral economic ties between the two countries through energy co-operation, the statement added.

GSPC also has a 17-year LNG supply agreement with QatarEnergy for up to 1mn t/yr starting this year, in a contract indexed to dated Brent.

The Indian state company will also receive 400,000 t/yr of LNG from TotalEnergies from this year, in a contract linked to US benchmark Henry Hub prices.
