Oxy Vinyl's polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plant in Deer Park, Texas, reported a leak of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) 8 November, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
The leak was a result of a valve misalignment caused while the plant operator was swapping out VCM filters. Operators realigned the valves and the release was stopped. It was not clear whether the event impacted operations at the facility.
