Magellan Midstream Partners will build a new, 1mn bl refined products terminal on the Houston Ship Channel in Pasadena, Texas.
The facility could be expanded to 10mn bl of storage and from one Panamax dock to up to five Aframax docks. Magellan expects the project to begin operations in 2019 and cost $335mn.
"Demand for refined products export capabilities from the Gulf coast continues to grow, and Magellan is well-positioned to take advantage of these opportunities due to our extensive pipeline and terminals network," chief executive Michael Mears said.
Magellan will connect the new Pasadena terminal to its existing Galena Park facility by a 36-inch pipeline, and also plans to tie in its 18-inch Texas City-to-Pasadena pipeline to the facility.
