Terminal operator Zenith Energy reached an agreement with Mexican cement producer Cemex to develop LPG and refined products distribution terminals at several sites within the country.

The move comes amid the deregulation of local retail fuel markets in Mexico. The US terminal operator did not specify which of Cemex's more than 90 storage and distribution locations will be redeveloped for LPG and refined projects terminals.

"The agreement includes locations in or near the largest population/consumption centers in Mexico," said Jay Reynolds, Zenith's chief commercial officer. "We are in discussions with a number of customers across the barrel and have had very positive reactions on multiple products."

Cemex's business activities at the locations will continue as usual. Cemex's infrastructure includes 80 terminal locations, 54 adjacent to railways, and nine marine terminals, six of which are located on the Pacific coast.

Zenith operates storage terminals in Amsterdam, Ireland and Colombia. The operator is backed by a $600mn investment from private equity firm Warburg Pincus.
