Japanese automaker Toyota Motor will cut production at its North American plants by tens of thousands of vehicles in February as it continues to grapple with global supply chain issues.
The automaker estimated this week that it would not produce 25,000-30,000 vehicles in the month that were previously slated for production.
That brings Toyota's North American production cuts for the first two months of 2022 to 65,000-80,000 vehicles, with output of 330,000-415,000 vehicles scrapped since August.
Among all automakers, approximately 175,000 vehicles may be impacted by production issues largely related to semiconductor shortages in North America in the first half of January, according to estimates by AutoForecast Solutions. Total lost production since January 2021 is at 2.29mn vehicles for the region, according to the company.
