Key gasoline blending hub Singapore exported a record volume of gasoline to Kenya in November, according to Enterprise Singapore and GTT data.
The city state exported a record volume of 89,249t (754,155 bl) of gasoline with a research octane number above 90 but below 97 to Kenya during the 9 November-15 November week, according to Enterprise Singapore data. This is the highest level of export volumes since records began in January 2012, according to GTT data. The Singapore-Kenya route is not common, with no such flows in 2022 and just 708,516 bl in 2021.
The reason for the rare flows could be tighter gasoline supplies in the Mideast Gulf, the main supplier of Kenya's gasoline. The UAE accounted for almost 80pc of gasoline supplied to Kenya in January-November 2023, according to oil analytics firm Vortexa. But a string of scheduled turnarounds in the region could have reduced supply and prompted Kenya to look towards Singapore for supply. The tighter market has also prompted nearly two-year high Singapore-Pakistan flows in September.
Despite the rare flows and higher gasoline exports, Singapore light distillates stock levels still rose on week given a sharp decline in naphtha export volumes. Singapore's naphtha export volumes fell as exports to South Korea dropped more than 50pc to just 293,000 bl.
