Portugal's 4mn t/yr Sines LNG terminal is due to receive its fourth LNG delivery from US LNG exporter Cheniere Energy's 25mn t/yr Sabine Pass terminal next month.

The 172,700m³ Rioja Knutsen departed Sabine Pass on 26 March and is declaring for delivery to Sines on 9 April. The vessel is chartered by Sabine Pass train two offtaker Spanish utility Gas Natural Fenosa.

The terminal received two deliveries of US LNG in February and one delivery in April last year.

Lower electricity output from renewable sources and coal-fired plants boosted Portugal's power sector gas demand in February. Strong consumption supported demand for LNG imports, with six cargoes docking at the Sines terminal in February.

But March deliveries slowed from a month earlier, with Sines receiving one cargo from Nigeria and one from Qatar.

Mild weather in Portugal in recent weeks curbed aggregate demand and minimum temperatures in Lisbon were forecast mostly above average into the first half of April.
