The workers union at the San Rafael tin mine in Peru began an indefinite strike yesterday in relation to a pay bonus disagreement, mining company Minsur said.
The Minsur workers union initiated a strike at San Rafael over dissatisfaction with the share of company profits passed to workers, according to a filing to the country's market regulator.
San Rafael is the largest tin producing mine in South America and accounts for around 10pc of global tin production. The mine processed 1.13mn t of ores last year.
Minsur produced a total of 18,339t of refined tin in 2018.
