Brazil hit its third natural gas reinjection record in the last eight months in February.
Gas reinjections — when gas is pumped back into wells to enhance oil recovery or avoid flaring — amounted to 77.2mn m³/d in February, a 17pc increase from January and a 5.2pc rise from the same month in 2022.
Total gas production grew to 146.5mn m³/d, 10pc higher than in February 2022 and 2.3pc more than in January.
There was 49.4mn m³/d of gas available to the market, a 1.2pc decrease from the previous year and a 3.1pc drop from the previous month.
Gas consumption on production platforms rose to almost 15.2mn m³/d, up by 2.5pc from the same period in 2022 and by 0.4pc from January.
Gas flaring grew to 3.8mn m³/d, a 25pc rise from the same month last year but an 8pc drop from the previous month.
