US nitrogen fertilizer producer Interoceanic Corporation (IOC) preemptively closed its facility in Pasadena, Texas, ahead of Hurricane Beryl.
Beryl came ashore early today southwest of Pasadena, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall to southeast Texas.
IOC did not comment on whether there are any damages to the facility. A time line to reopen has not been set, said the company.
IOC produces ammonium sulfate along with other nitrogen products at the facility. The facility has a capacity of 695,000 st/yr.
