Ukraine's exports of wheat, barley and corn continued to lag behind last year's levels, according to agriculture ministry data for 29 August.
Cumulative wheat exports since the start of the 2025-26 marketing year in July totalled 2.55mn t as of 29 August, compared with 3.39mn t in the same point of last year, according to the data.
Barley exports almost halved on the year to 562,000t over the same period.
Delayed winter crop harvests this season and forecast production declines could be a reason of lower wheat and barley exports so far.
As for corn, exports from the beginning of the 2024-25 season in October 2024 to 29 August fell by 8.94mn t from the same period last year, to 20.18mn t — the lowest for the time period since 2017-18, the ministry's data show. Corn exports decreased sharply because of lower corn production last year.
Ukraine's 2025-26 corn output is expected to increase, but exports could lag last year's levels at the beginning of new season because of expectations of delayed harvest in parts of the country.
