Danish metals recycler HJ Hansen exported record scrap volumes for a single week after loading the first vessel from its new port in Aalborg, Denmark, last week.

Hansen shipped 60,000t within the latest week, comprising two larger cargoes of 13,000t and 29,400t alongside smaller cargoes on four coasters, the company said on Tuesday.

The ships sailed to the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Morocco and Turkey, the Odense-headquartered recycler added.

Hansen moved to a new berth in East Port in Aalborg at the start of 2026, the Port of Aalborg said last week. The recycler also said last week that it had loaded and shipped its first large cargo, which was the 13,000t shipment.

"The new location in Aalborg is a strategic investment for us," Hansen commercial director Rasmus Skou Oldenborg said. "We have been given the framework that makes it possible to handle larger quantities and larger ships, and this strengthens both our own business and the solutions we can offer our partners. This ship is an important sign that the venture is developing as we had hoped."
