Iran's Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) warned on 27 October that it will take action against seven vessels linked to South Korean shipping firm Sinokor from 1 November, over alleged violations of its strait of Hormuz passage requirements.

The PGSA said vessels belonging to Sinokor had committed the highest number of passage violations over the past three months, adding that enforcement measures had already been taken against at least seven vessels.

The authority named the very large crude carriers (VLCC) Cyprus Prosperity, Mombasa B, Senegal Prosperity, Mersin Prosperity, Ghana Prosperity, Cameroon Prosperity and Angola Prosperity, warning cargo owners, beneficiaries and insurance providers that legal action will be taken against these vessels from 1 November.

The PGSA did not specify in its latest notice what action would be taken against the seven vessels. But the authority has previously said ships on its non-compliance list could face restrictions on future passages through the strait of Hormuz, including fines, detention or confiscation.

Iran has progressively expanded its non-compliance list since September, targeting ships that it alleges have failed to follow its procedures for transiting the strait of Hormuz. The PGSA said in a 21 October notice published on social media platform X that 122 vessels had been added to the list and that action had been taken against 40.

The authority had previously advised cargo owners to check an updated list of non-compliant vessels before fixing ships for voyages to or from the Mideast Gulf.

The latest warning comes amid continued security risks for commercial shipping around the strait of Hormuz. The Angola Prosperity was hit by projectiles on 11 October, following similar attacks on the Ghana Prosperity and Cameroon Prosperity on 3-4 October. The Mersin Prosperity and Senegal Prosperity were also involved in separate security incidents in late September and late August, respectively.
