Norwegian additive manufacturer Norsk Titanium has received an order from UK-based jet engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce for an undisclosed titanium component, and has been approved as supplier for Rolls-Royce development activities.
The 6Al 4V (Grade 5) component was produced at Norsk Titanium's plant in Norway using the company's proprietary rapid plasma deposition process, and final machining is being completed in Germany.
The companies did not disclose the specific part, but it is being assessed for use across current civil aerospace engine programmes.
