Chevron will supply Australian utility Alinta Energy with 46PJ (1.2bn m³) from its Western Australian (WA) gas portfolio over five years, extending a long-standing relationship between the companies, Alinta said today.
Gas will be supplied from July 2027, sourced from Chevron's 8.9mn t/yr Wheatstone and 15.6mn t/yr Gorgon LNG projects as well as its stake in the North West Shelf fields, offshore WA's Pilbara region.
The announcement comes ahead of the expiry of a deal signed between Alinta and Chevron deal for 20 PJ/yr (530mn m³/yr) for seven years starting in 2020.
Alinta was bought out by Singapore-based Sembcorp Industries this year. Alinta is planning a 400MW gas-fired power station for WA with operations beginning in late 2028.
