Wieland to build heat exchanger plant in Ohio

Copper producer Wieland Group plans to spend $15mn to build a second manufacturing facility for heat exchangers in Delaware, Ohio, as demand grows for cooling equipment for data centers.

The 100,000ft2 plant will increase the Germany-based company's production capacity of heat exchangers, complementing output from its other site in Delaware, Wieland said on Monday. It acquired the original location through its acquisition of Italy-based Onda in 2024.

The expansion, which will add 100 jobs, supports Wieland's push into data center end markets, while growing its manufacturing footprint in the US. The company's heat exchangers are used also in heating, ventilation and air conditioning, as well as refrigeration applications.

Wieland did not provide a construction timeline for the new plant or estimated production capacities.

The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
