REDIII transpositions and the impact on HVO demand
European countries' renewable energy targets for transport are increasing in 2025, including higher targets for advanced biofuels.
The REDIII transposition deadline is around the corner (May 2025) and will require member states to amend their mandates. However, to what extent different countries will meet the deadline and ambition is uncertain. The biofuel most affected by new mandates will be HVO, as the contribution biodiesel and ethanol to the higher targets is constrained by blend walls.
