European Waste-based & Advanced Biofuels Association - EWABA

EWABA is a Brussels-based association representing the interests of the European waste-based and advanced biofuels industry before EU institutions, national governments, industry, civil society and the media. We promote the inclusion of waste-based and advanced biofuels in the EU fuel mix as a sustainable means of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in EU transport. Our 60+ members active in most EU Member States collect and use waste and advanced feedstocks listed in parts A and B of Annex IX of the Renewable Energy Directive (REDII) to produce sustainable biodiesel with the highest GHG savings (up to +90%) when compared with fossil fuels, thus enabling “near-term decarbonization” of the EU road and maritime transport sectors.

Preem

Preem creates long-term value for our customers, society and Preem through customized offers that meet the demand for environmentally friendly products, focusing on superior performance in refining, distribution and sales. We will deliver a safe, efficient and reliable value chain every day, and our success is based on competent and committed employees with leadership adapted to an increasingly rapid pace of change.

Preem accounts for about 80 percent of the Swedish production capacity, about half of all liquid fuel used in Sweden comes from Preem, and about 40 percent of the Nordic countries. We also produce heating as well as lubricating oils and supply many industries with heat and energy. Around two-thirds of the fuel production is sold to international customers, mainly in Northern Europe.

Preem's production takes place at our two refineries on the west coast of Sweden, in Gothenburg and Lysekil. Both are among Europe's most modern refineries. Together, they have the possibility of producing up to 18 million cubic meters of fuel annually.

Preem is currently carrying out a large-scale transition, where we are phasing out fossil fuels in favor of renewables. We are making this transition while we aim to maintain the reliability of supply in Sweden and abroad. We aim to achieve a climate-neutral value chain with net zero emissions by 2035, and our goal is to be one of the world's first climate-neutral refinery companies.
