LaGuardia Airport in New York, New York, has delayed arriving flights because of a lack of staffing as the partial government shutdown goes into its 34th day.
A ground stop has been put in effect for all air traffic arriving into LaGuardia, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), while departing flights are seeing delays between 15 to 29 minutes.
Other airports in the region, such as Newark International Airport in New Jersey and Philadelphia International Airport in Pennsylvania were seeing large delays.
