Specialty alloy producer Haynes International is temporarily halting most operations in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

The manufacturer said late last week that it would stop most of its operations for at least two weeks to ensure employee safety.

The company has three manufacturing facilities in the US, producing flat, wire, and tubular products comprised of high temperature and corrosion-resistant alloys for the aerospace, chemical processing, and industrial gas turbine markets.

In total, the company has 18 manufacturing, service, and sales offices across North America, Europe, and Asia.

In the interim, Haynes plans to continue sanitizing its facilities and formulate plans to restart production in the coming weeks.

As of January, Haynes already expected lower demand in the current quarter resulting from Boeing's 737 MAX production halt. It had planned to draw down scrap inventory at the company's Kokomo, Indiana, mill heading into the second quarter.
