A projectile has hit an oil product distribution terminal in Jizan, Saudi Arabia, causing a fire but no casualties, the Saudi energy ministry said.
The incident at just after 9pm local time (18:00 GMT) yesterday resulted in a fire at one of the tanks at Jizan, which is home to a 400,000 b/d refinery operated by state-controlled Aramco.
The energy ministry did not attribute blame for the attack and there was no immediate claim of responsibility by any group. It comes after a recent escalation of missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia by the Houthi militant group in Yemen, including on oil installations.
Aramco's 126,000 b/d Riyadh refinery was attacked by drones last week, after oil facilities in Ras Tanura were targeted earlier this month.
Saudi Arabia earlier this week proposed a plan to end the civil war in neighbouring Yemen, and its own six-year involvement in the conflict, appearing for the first time to publicly demonstrate an acceptance of a political role for the Houthis. It was quickly rebuffed by the Houthis as "neither serious nor new".
