Pakistani petrochemical producer Engro has selected US-based firms Honeywell and WR Grace as process technology partners for its planned 750,000 t/yr propane dehydrogenation (PDH)–polypropylene (PP) plant.
The $1.5bn plant is expected to be built in a coastal area in Pakistan by 2024-25. Engro in April announced plans to spend $31mn to carry out a feasibility study on building a PDH-PP plant in Pakistan to make the country self-sufficient for its PP requirements.
Honeywell will be licensing its C3 Oleflex technology, as well as basic engineering design services, catalysts and absorbents for the plant's propylene production. Grace will supply its Unipol PP process technology, which includes its polyolefins catalyst and PP process technology for PP production.
