India's state-controlled refiners have raised jet fuel prices for the first half of March by 3.33pc from two weeks earlier.

Prices of jet fuel for domestic airlines in Delhi have been set at 93,531 rupees/kilolitre ($1,236/kl) for the first half of this month, up from Rs90,520/kl for the previous two weeks, according to state-owned refiner IOC. Prices for domestic airlines on international routes were also increased to $931/kl for the latest period from $903/kl for the previous two weeks.

Indian domestic air traffic demand has been on a recovery path since last month after having touched its lowest level since at least August 2021 in January because of concerns about the new Omicron variant of Covid-19.

Domestic airport footfall averaged about 531,018/d last month compared with an average of 413,000/d for January, according to Argus estimates based on daily traffic data published by India's civil aviation ministry. But this was well below December's average of 717,000/d.
