United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) members have offered to return to work at metallurgical coal miner Warrior Met Coal after nearly two years of striking.
UMWA international president Cecil Roberts told Warrior Met Coal chief executive Walt Scheller in a letter that striking members would return to work on 2 March.
The workers have been striking since early 2021.
"We are entering a new phase of our efforts to win our members and their families the fair and decent contract they need and deserve," Roberts said in a 16 February statement. "We have been locked into this struggle for 23 months now, and nothing has materially changed. The two sides have essentially fought each other to a draw thus far, despite the company's unlawful bargaining posture the entire time."
The UMWA considers the return to work an "unconditional offer."
Warrior Met Coal did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
