Japanese car producer Toyota has restarted operations after shutting all its domestic plants following a systems failure.
Toyota said it resumed manufacturing at its 12 domestic factories on 30 August. The company plans to restore another two factories later in the day, completing a full recovery.
It suspended operations on 29 August on the back of mechanical problems with its auto parts ordering system. Toyota has not yet fixed the malfunction but replaced the current ordering system with temporary equipment. The company is continuing to investigate the cause but reiterated that a cyberattack was unlikely.
Toyota does not provide daily output forecasts but it produced around 14,000 units/d in June and 11,000 units/d in August 2022.
This was the second complete shutdown in 18 months for Toyota, following its production suspension in February 2022 on the back of a systems failure at its major supplier.
