Chemical recycler Agilyx, has launched a plastic waste sourcing company joint venture with Luxembourg-based Circular Resources in order to source and provide 200,000t of plastic waste by the end of 2025 to the pyrolysis oil industry.
Plastyx will be a 60:40 joint venture between Agilyx and Circular Resources. Circular Resources is helmed by Carlos Monreal, former chief executive of chemical recycler Plastic Energy. Agilyx will source the pyrolysis oil feedstock in Europe "by developing partnerships and material processing capabilities" and hopes to execute memorandums of understanding to supply the European market by the end of 2025 as a near-term goal. Monreal will be chairman for the joint venture according to a statement from Agilyx.
Agilyx is also an owner in a joint venture in the US with ExxonMobil and LyondellBasell called Cyclyx. Cyclyx is currently aiming to launch a 300mn lb/yr (136,000 t/yr) plastic waste collection site near Houston, Texas and plans to invest in a site near Fort Worth, Texas with the same capacity in the near future.
