US-based critical mineral concentrates producer American Resources and its subsidiary ReElement Technologies said they will extend an existing 5-year antimony agreement with a South Africa-based mineral supplier to ten years.
In January, the company announced an antimony expansion to its existing lithium spodumene partnership. The company did not name its South African supplier.
ReElement expects to initially take 500 metric tonnes/month of ore for processing and refinement. The company expects revenues from initial contracted volumes to be at least $29mn/year.
ReElement said its antimony products will be used for defense and commercial applications. Antimony trisulfide is commonly used to produce military ammunition while antimony trioxide is commonly used in flame retardants.
