Brazil PVC imports stable in June as exports spike

Brazil's imports of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) rose 1.6pc in June, remaining mostly stable from a year earlier, while exports spiked, heading mostly to Africa and Europe.

The country imported around 60,755 metric tonnes (t) in the month, down from 59,775t in June 2025. Import values rose to over $76.9mn in June, a 60pc increase from a year prior, according to data from trade ministry Mdic.

Colombia remained Brazil's leading PVC supplier in June, with over 30,708t, an 18pc rise from a year prior. The neighboring country accounted for 50.5pc of imports of the resin, above its 43.3pc share a year prior.

Egypt followed with 16,975t shipped in June, up by 63pc from a year prior. Argentina cut by half its PVC shipments to Brazil in the month, reaching 2,646t, down from 5,200t last year.

Shipments from the US slumped to 1,590t in June from 14,265t a year prior, dropping its import share to 2pc from 23.8pc. Brazilian antidumping duties on US PVC reached nearly 44pc in May 2025, up from 8.2pc.

On the export side, Brazil's PVC shipments skyrocketed to over 3,734t in June, an eightfold increase from a year prior, Mdic data show.

Exports have soared since April, when Brazilian PVC shipments surpassed 2,600t, a sevenfold increase from a year prior after two months of decreases. Revenues from exports of the resin totaled $7.97mn in June, almost double from a year prior.

Turkey became Brazil's largest buyer of PVC in June, accounting for nearly 29pc of its export share, with 1,075t. Italy (25.4pc), Morocco (14.7pc) and Honduras (13.1pc) followed.
