Singapore, 23 April (Argus) — Thailand's IRPC plans to shut its Group 1 base oils plant in Rayong in August for about a month's maintenance.

The 350,000 t/yr IRPC unit produces around 31,000 t/month of base oils. Group 1 SN 500 base oil accounts for about 18,500t, or 60pc, of production. Bright stock accounts for about 9,300t, or 30pc, of output. The remaining products are light grade SN 60 and SN 150.

Thai Lube, the country's other base oils producer, shut its 270,000 t/yr Group 1 plant in January this year for about a month's scheduled maintenance work. It produces mostly SN 500, followed by bright stock. Lighter grade SN 60 and SN 150 account for about 20pc of production.

Singapore is the main destination for Thailand base oil exports, with more than 80pc of shipments going to the city state.

Both IRPC and Thai Lube are units of state-owned oil firm PTT.
