Houston, 26 February (Argus) — Arc Terminals will buy Motiva's refined products terminal in Brooklyn, New York, for an undisclosed sum.

The terminal supplies and distributes gasoline to the greater New York City area and sections of Long Island and Westchester county. The site receives barrels by pipeline and waterborne transport. Motiva will remain a customer at the terminal, the companies said.

Arc could weigh adding more gasoline storage or entering the distillates market by using additional land available the site. But the company is able to grow throughputs and add customers using the terminal's existing assets, it said.

The purchase marks the second deal for Arc so far this year. Earlier this month, Arc acquired a 1.2mn-bl marine, rail and truck terminal in Mobile, Alabama, and a rail transloading facility in Saraland, Alabama, where Shell operates an 80,000 b/d refinery. Both sites handle petroleum products, including heavy oil at the Saraland site and asphalt, crude, fuel oil and methanol at the Mobile terminal.
