Ineos' No. 1 olefins unit at its Chocolate Bayou plant near Alvin, Texas, experienced an upset yesterday when the feed system malfunctioned, according to a filing with state regulators.
Feed to the unit was restarted and operating rates were reduced, according to the filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The event resulted in flaring of methane, ethane, propane, ethylene and propylene, among other material, until this morning.
